pan y rosas release roots and ripples by wilhelm matthies and reid karris!

Wilhelm Matthies mostly records in the studio releasing solo, duet and group pieces on Soundcloud and his micro-netlabel, darkpebble-bluewave. Mostly his music is contemporary classical either as free improvisation or using graphic composition. Since 2012 Wilhelm has been developing the mosesa, a string instrument that allows for maximum access to the string spectrum and allows various sounding boards to be attached.

Reid Karris is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, sound enthusiast and improviser hailing from Chicago, Illinois trying very hard to get all the music stuck in his head out for all the world to hear. After spending years as an odd guitarist trying to fit in with the world of rock music Reid shifted his focus towards improvisation, noise, drone and avant-garde.

roots and ripples is an internet collaboration. In march of 2018, Wilhelm and Reid each recorded three tracks on their own and then exchanged them to finish the other’s pieces. The sound is: earthy scratches, smears, thumps and bumps, and ringing, clear bell tones. Sometimes crashing and crackling.
